I love Pioneer Woman!!

September 26, 2007

If you have not visited Pioneer Woman’s website yet, you must! She has two sites: “The Pioneer Woman”, which is all about her life and photography and “The Pioneer Woman Cooks”, which is all about cooking. I absolutely LOVE both of them, but I especially like the cooking one. I have not ceased in making a new recipe’s of hers…the recipes are so EASY and ALWAYS delicious!

So, the other day, my sweet husband requested HOT WINGS,… I had never made them, but luckily Pioneer Woman had! What a fun experience, but I did learn on thing, hot wings are NOT, in any way, whatsoever, HEALTHY!

Here are some pics of my endevours:

Deep Frying the wings in Canola Oil. Yes, did I mention yet that they are not healthy, in any way, WHATSOEVER! Oh yes, I may have told you that already… well, just warning you!

My sister-in-law is having a baby girl and her name will be Karis. As a baby shower gift, I decided to make her personalized letters that spell Karis. I thought these would be a fun way to decorate the babies room. I had so much fun making them! Although, if I had to do it over again I would have made a few changes, but overall I am happy with them!

It was a pretty fun process,…and all you need are a few items!copy-of-img_5835-small.jpg

Wood Letters

Acrylic Paint

Puffy Paint

Foam Brush

Thin Paint Brush

All of these items can be purchased at Michaels Craft Store.

First, I started with the wooden letters…

I painted the front side first with my foam brush…

Then I painted the back sides of the letters…

Then the front again, making sure there weren’t any clumps.

After this I allowed the letters to dry for about 10 minutes. Acrylic Paint dries quickly!

Then, I began to lightly sketch the design I wanted for the letters. My sister-in-law’s theme is “Love Bug” from the Carter’s line at Babies “R” Us, so I tried to draw the same pattern on the letters so that it will match her bedroom theme!

After this I began to paint the green stems and leaves with the acrylic paint.

Then I added flowers, butterflies, and ladybugs with the puffy paint.

Puffy Paint takes a bit more time to dry, so be careful!

This is the finished product!

So fun!! Welcome to the world, little Baby Karis!
