Happy Mother’s Day!!

May 12, 2008

Happy Mother’s Day, Momma. Hope it was a wonderful day,… wish I could have been out on the East Coast with you today!

I had a fun time on Thursday, putting together some Mother’s Day packages for both, my mom and J’s mom.

For J’s mom, I baked her very own zucchini bread recipe, which she gave me a year or so ago. Instead of bread though, I turned them into muffins. I thought they’d be fun for her to receive since it’s a special recipe that she has used for many years.

And, for my mom, I made her favorite oatmeal raisin cookies, which I must have started making in fifth grade. These have always been her favorites and since she lives so far away, I thought it’d be such a nice surprise for her to receive them.

I packed them up in some cute gift boxes and sent them out priority mail with USPS. And, I heard today that both of them shipped well. I’ve really caught onto the whole baking and mailing thing,….it’s great!

And since I’ve gotten into the whole paper thing ;) , I had to include some “Lydia’s Pen and Paper” stationary…

I loved how they turned out. So, if you’d like to order a set of stationary, please let me know. I will be putting more samples up on my Pen and Paper site very soon!

So,…happy Mother’s Day everyone!! Give your Momma a kiss!

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies

May 9, 2008

Another great Everday Food recipe….

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!

And in giant, they mean scooping up a 1/4 cup of chocolate chip cookie dough for each cookie…

Try the recipe out! They were delicious!

Important Announcement!!

May 9, 2008

I have announcement to make, people…

My workspace no longer consists of a worn in couch (as my chair) and an old, T.V. tray table (as my desk),… I officially have de-ghetto-ized my work space (a bit).

It now consists of our ikea shelf (that used to be the home of many framed pictures) and a tall bar stool chair (which is slowly getting more unstable since the screws holding it together are stripped). UPGRADE, I tell you!!

Yes,… I have exchanged sitting, “indian-style” for sitting, jammed in between, “tons of entertainment devices and cords”.

But let me tell you, my friends,…. it sure beats sitting on a couch and using a T.V. tray. Yes sirrrreeee,… it does. And do you see what my sweet hubby set up for me?!?! A second monitor!! I never, in my entire life, would have thought I would know that you could even set up multiple monitors!!

I love my husband.

Just think. If this delights me so greatly now,….think about when I, someday, have enough space to house an actual, real desk!!

Think about that!

Beach Themed Invitations

May 8, 2008

Yesterday, I sent off another batch of invitations

This set of invitations were beach themed,…they were so much fun to make. Our main theme started with a starfish stamp the bride brought to me. I used this as the basis for the design. Her colors are light blue, ivory, and a maroonish red, but we decided to stick to the light blue and ivory for the invitations.

After a week of calligraphy-ing, cutting, stamping, gluing, and attaching, they are finished!

Hooray… happiness!

Puffy Paint,…what every Artist should have..

May 5, 2008

Last week, we celebrated one of my good friends birthdays. I won’t tell you how old she turned, but I will tell you about the gift I gave her.

While I was at S.D.S.U., I took a ton of Art classes. I loved them and wish I could go back and take them all over again. No Linguistics or Physics for me, thank you very much! But Art,… yes, I would be fine with taking that again.

A perk to taking all of those classes?! Endless amounts of art pieces that, I’ve found, I can color copy and give as gifts to those I love. It’s great. I love it,… they’re very special to me and to give them as gifts, makes them even more special!

This one was a mixed media I did while in a Design and Color class. The original piece was made with a patterned paper I found at Blick, puffy paint (haha…I don’t know what else to call it), and acrylic paint. I originally wasn’t that into the piece, but when it was framed,…with the crinkly brown paper in the background and the black matte paper behind the piece, I fell in love with it again. I think the frame goes well with the piece.

And then, to make it complete, I wrapped it in crisp, clean brown paper and tied a pink, polka dotted ribbon around the framed piece.
Ahhh,….wonderful!
