Bebe!

August 29, 2008

I’ve been really bad at writing posts in the last few weeks. I’m sorry, but I have an excuse!!! I promise!!

I’ve been torn, knowing when to announce this to the whole world through internet, but I’m going to say it now,……

I’M PREGNANT!!!

13 weeks today. It’s unbelievable how quickly babies grow…I can’t believe how defined everything is! I think my baby has my nose…so precious.

I really can’t believe it’s true. It’s scary and exciting at the same time. Mostly exciting though. I’m still not sure how much I’ll write about my little baby on this site, but I know I won’t be able to resist mentioning it every once and a while. It’s just too exciting NOT to mention!

Now, I’ve been bad at posting lately and I’d like to pull the “pregnancy card” and blame it on being tired and having no energy, whatsoever, but I really can’t blame it on that. Of course being pregnant has contributed to my lack of posting (I have been very unmotivated in the last few weeks), but really, things have just been BUSY! Between back-to-back visitors all summer long, traveling, and work,… I’ve been left with no energy for anything else. Sweet J has been doing so much to help. I have a wonderful husband.

One of the last trips we took was up to Oakland for J’s cousins baby shower (whose baby was born today, I might add!!). I thought it’d be fitting to post some of the photos I took of the stationary I made for them, which matched the invitations I designed for their shower.

Pink, pink, pink! Can you tell they were expecting a girl?!

I hand drew the design. Paul and Dayana live in the San Francisco area, so I thought it was fitting to include the bridge and cityscape behind them; also their cute little dog,…which is their “other” baby.

They wanted something that wasn’t as “baby-ish”, so I thought this was a fun way of doing pink and cutsie, but more city-chic.

The cards, with a stack of metallic-y pink envelopes, completed the package. Baby shower thank you cards…complete!

Now I need to get working on designing my babies thank you cards!

Homemade Peach Icecream!!

August 20, 2008

J has been bugging me to make homemade ice cream all summer long. I finally made it for him a few weeks ago. Aren’t I a good wife?!

For our wedding, we received a Lowe’s gift card, as a present, from one of our friends. Did we use the gift card for a hammer or nails or plywood, you ask? No,…..we found the most kitchen-y thing and used it on that…..which was our icecream maker! And we have never regretted it!

Different from the old, crank style icecream makers, this one is electric. All you have to do is make the custard, refrigerate it until its cold, and then pour it into the maker, flip the spin switch, and there it goes! Twenty minutes later, you have delicious icecream. Of course, the best is if you let it get a bit harder in the freezer!

J bought peaches at the store and we waited for them to ripen as long as possible and then we did the deed and made our delicious icecream.

We’ve usually used Alton Brown’s icecream recipes, after watching one of his episodes called, “Churn Baby, Churn”, but I felt like trying something new, so instead used Barefoot Contessa’s simple vanilla icecream recipe (which I can’t now, for the life of me, locate….I think Food Network took it off their site. I really do! It disappeared).

Nevertheless, it was delicious. And yummy. And, oh so good!

So, if you’re in the mood for homemade icecream with no hassle, check out the Cuisinart Icecream Maker.

It will make you happy, I promise.
