A post without pictures,…I’m not sure what to do!

October 23, 2008

I like how I’m always on top of all my posts… *I’m being sarcastic here*. But, it’s okay, right? That’s who I am. I’m not a structured, orderly person and I never do things methodically so I might as well embrace it, right?

I’m up in Los Angeles this week, hanging out, while my hardworking husband works away. Remind me to never complain about the life I have been given. I am blessed, beyond belief, in so many ways. One of the number one blessings, being my husband. I love him.

Anyways while I’ve been up here, I’ve been slaving away in coffee “boutiques” *sigh*, walking through the Fashion District in search of beautiful fabrics *remind me to post on this, if I don’t!*, checking out the new Americana at Brand, and using free wifi at coffee “shops” *oh, I already mentioned coffee… that’s what I do mainly while I’m up here…drink coffee. It’s decaf for the baby though, I promise*.

Thank you Swork Coffee, for allowing me to have endless hours of free wifi. I am eternally grateful.

Smitten Kitchen

October 14, 2008

I have a new, favorite website. Smitten Kitchen. Although I’ve known about this site for sometime, I have a list of blogs I scan through each day and seemed to have overlooked this beautiful site.

The photos alone are cause for great applause and after trying a couple of their recipes in the past few weeks, they have proven to be also.

A couple of weeks ago, I tried out their “North Fork Table & Inn Scones“, minus the caraway seeds, which I didn’t have on hand. They were delicious; the perfect scone. Not too sweet, not too dry,….moist and lovely; simple too.

I loved making these for an easy breakfast and delicious for an afternoon snack.

This recipe will definitely become a staple item in our home.

gifts in the mail

October 10, 2008

I love getting packages in the mail, whether its something from amazon.com that I’m expecting or a fun surprise from a friend,…it’s always fun!

The other day, my sweet friend, Jen sent me a cute bundle of baby gifts. Everything was so precious,… I’m convinced one of her talents is finding unique gifts. Every time she gives me something, I always love it and have never seen anything like it before.

The contents included,…

a “tweet” baby album,….which I have already filled with my ultrasound pictures!

an adorable and soft! little knit hat

a fun luggage tag,…seriously,… i’ve never seen a luggage tag as cute as this!!

Now, aren’t those all so cute?!

Sewing!!

October 8, 2008

I think I may have a new obsession!! I’m so excited……SEWING!

Not that I really know anything yet, but today I decided that I need to learn to sew. I went to the local fabric store and found a few fun fabrics, came home, and decided that a baby bib would be a good starter project.

So granted, I’ve never really “learned” how to sew, I’ve only played around with a sewing machine a few times, but it was a baby bib (which wasn’t too complicated).

The stitching is a little crooked and it ended up not being as smooth and uniform as I would have liked it to,…but it’s a BIB! And you can pretty much tell it is, right?! I love how it’s two different fabrics.

I didn’t have any needle and thread (I told you I was new to this sewing thing!), so I couldn’t sew on the button and make the buttonhole, but I’ll be finishing that tomorrow,… once I head to the store to make the purchases.

Now, I must take this time to thank Sew and So who has motivated me with all of her many fun sewing projects…and the rest of the blogging world who has constantly posted beautiful projects with gorgeous fabrics…the fabrics are pure motivation, alone, to learn how to sew!!
