Hi Friends! It seems like I’ve been gone for a while. I’ve been naughty and haven’t kept up on my regular posting!! What am I going to do when this baby pops out of me and I can’t blame my lack of posts on being pregnant anymore?! Oh yes,..that’s right, I’ll have a BABY! I can blame it on her,… she’s a good enough excuse, right?!
So, in preparation of the little peanut inside me,…err….more like a large eggplant, J and I went to JoAnn’s and decided we were going to embark on a project. A project that is WAY beyond my league and WAY below J’s regular, things-he’d-like-to-do-in-his-spare-time, list. Don’t laugh, but we decided we’re going to try to make our own personal diaper bag. Notice the emphasis on the word try. I told you not to laugh!!
I have such a nice husband,… he walked around JoAnn’s with me and assisted in the fabric print decisions and then helped me find a pattern for the bag. We knew we were headed for trouble when we couldn’t even identify half the things to purchase for the pattern.
Number two clue we knew we were in trouble,…when we had to Google search half the words on the pattern directions. And, oh my! Cutting out pieces for patterns takes FOREVER!!! I was over it by the time I cut my second piece… I think in all we cut about 25 pieces. Ugh. But, like I said, I have a very hardworking husband that volunteered to help with this. Although, he may have regretted it halfway through.
I’ll keep you posted on how things go. But if it takes me a while please be kind,….you know I’m pregnant, right? Oh yes,…I believe I have mentioned that before..

Ambitious! I don’t think I tried anything with zippers for at least a year. And that was with motherly supervision.
But best of luck with it! (And feel free to bother me on Facebook if you need more interpretation than Google can give. And also check out the how-tos on Burdastyle.com, because they have pictures.

Sweet Lydia – I have so been there and done that! It all sounds so romantic and fun, and you think that in the end you will end up with high design and low cost, only to realize that in the end you have something that you secretly are very proud of, but costs roughly the same price as a Gucci diaper bag would have!! My recent projects: a quilt for Jody, 9 handmade stockings, a very hilarious dog costume for Bella (or was it cat? Wasn’t quite sure by the time I finished!), curtains, table cloths and table runners, and the one I am most proud of – a cute high chair cover for Kaya’s bday. Each time it gets easier though, so keep at it! Miss you and James lots! I LOVE the fabric you picked out – please post the finished project!

Hah, Lydia. You know they sell those at Babies R’ Us and a few are even kind of cute.
