Elmwood Christmas Ornaments!

I had to post these pictures before it gets waaaaaay too past Christmas for anyone to have any desire to look at Christmas ornaments. Of course I meant to get these up before Christmas, but you know how that goes (with me, especially!!).

So a couple of months before Christmas, a friend who has had me do a few other fun jobs for her in the past, contacted me with a request for some Christmas ornaments…

She requested 7 similar ornaments all with a small replica design of her in-laws home. After sending me a few detailed pictures and explanations, this is what I came up with…

I thought they ended up being pretty cute. I added some detailed texture through carving into the clay, along with some glass beads.

My friend was so kind to contact me after Christmas to let me know that the ornaments were a huge hit with her family. And, it also made me happy to know that everyone knew exactly what the ornaments were supposed to signify (i.e. they resembled the house well enough that they didn’t have to guess why in the world they got an ornament, with a house on it!)!!

Here’s a little snippet from her email, that I thought was so fun and cute to hear about…

“As expected, the ornaments were a huge hit!!!  Everyone couldn’t get over how good you got the house, the colors and everything. Four years ago, the entire family came home to Elmwood to help reside and paint the house. Therefore, everyone was so amazed you even traced the diamond and scallop brown trim, because we had to scrape 80 yrs of paint off them and then repaint them, so we knew them very well! :) And as I said, the colors were so perfect, everyone mentioned it.”

So, it was a mission accomplished! I’m glad her family enjoyed them and it was such a fun project to work on!
