Detailed post coming soon!
I love brocade prints,…or do you prefer me to call them damask? I still can’t figure out which term is accurate…does anyone know?!
No matter how you describe them, I’m in love with the look, the feel, the styles of such designs. So much so, that when I chose to design Ruby’s room, I used the damask print for curtains. LOVE the look!
So, you can understand my excitement when Samantha emailed me and requested I design such a style for her wedding invitations.
James and I met Samantha and Jeff through our birthing class, over a year ago, when our babies were still in our bellies! It’s been so much fun getting to know them this past year and seeing our girls play together.
So you can imagine the honor I felt when Samantha asked me to design their wedding invites. They were hoping for an invitation with a more laid back, mellow feel…not too over the top, wedding-y. Simplistic, fun, chic. Samantha has such good taste,…I love her style, which made me so excited to create these for her!
Oh Samantha and Jeff and their wedding invitations that I am SO in love with!!
Even the response card is cool with the simplistic, fun wording.
They were so unique, different in style from so many other wedding invitations I’ve seen: slim line card, response postcard, fun colors,…loved them! Makes me want to get married all over again, to my J of course, and use these invitations for MY wedding. Would you mind if I did that, Samantha?! That ok?!? : )
Ruby’s Baptism,…continued…
So, sometimes I do crazy, ridiculous things NO OTHER person would even consider doing. Like, for example, creating these cards the morning of Ruby’s Baptism…like an hour before we’re supposed to leave. No kidding. I thought of doing them that morning while laying in bed, to be completely honest.
I don’t know why I choose to set myself up for complete craziness. There are just so many things I want to do and figure, I’m not gonna let time stop me. Life is crazy…there’s always going to be a million things on my plate and I guess it all comes back to priorities.
And, one of my priorities is making cute things for my daughter (Is there anything wrong with that? Ha!) Cute, but also precious. Ruby will look at this years down the line, maybe when she’s my age, and appreciate this (hopefully, that is!).
Some things are just important to me and even if it’s unrealistic, I’ll make time to have it done. And, I did it,…even if it meant sticking the photo on the card right before the party started!
You see, a good friend, who is also a VERY talented photographer had taken family photos of James, me, and Ruby. We had just gotten back the pictures and I had to show them off….right? Who wouldn’t! They are gorgeous! I never got to show these off on my blog,..but here’s a few.
this one is just so cute of her….
Amazing, right? Check her out!
And the photo I used for her keepsake card…
I, literally, just made up the word “keepsake card”. I sound so confident, like I really know what I’m talking about. I wasn’t really sure what to call this photo card, but really, it was something for others to “keep” and enjoy. So, there you have it, keep.sake.card.
I was home over the winter and found this card, which my dad had saved, in his Bible. I didn’t tell him, but it totally brought tears to my eyes. My sweet Pops. I love him!
And to go with whole ensemble, I made these matching notecards to write thank you’s on. Very sweet and very special.
Something we’ve been able to put to use!
Love ‘em!
So Ruby is 13 months now and although we had her baptized at 6 months, I thought I’d share the invitations, keepsake cards, and stationery I did for her baptism. A wee bit late, I know, but I still think post-worthy.
So, this is little Rubes at 6 months….isn’t she a doll?? Look at those precious little hands folded!
It’s crazy looking back at pictures though, she had ZERO hair. Zero…how did I not notice this back then?!
And her hips, you ask? Yes….no thunder thighs, I promise. When my mom and I decided to do this spur of the moment “photo shoot” (ha!), we stuck her little bum in the baby bumbo and it was magical. She totally dug it and sat still in there the entire time.
I’m sure you’re wondering about this girly, dolly, fluffy, foo-foo dress…
When we decided to have Ruby baptized, my mom presented the idea of having part of her wedding dress made into a baptismal gown for Ruby and all of her future granddaughers to wear. Of course I LOVED the idea…so precious and what an amazing keepsake! So, my mom had her friend, who is an impeccable seamstress/dressmaker (and who also helped with my wedding gown when J and I were married), make this dress. It is precious,…adorable,… and SO very special. I’m not sure what Ruby thought of is, but we all loved it and totally got a kick out of it! How can you not??! Look at her….insanely cute.
So for her baptism we had a few friends and family attend to be part of the service. It was a special day and although, it wasn’t necessary, I had to make invitations for such an event. What a great excuse to make a precious invite…
A hand drawn cross and custom hand drawn writing for her name and “baptism”….
This was such a special day for us,… so precious and meaningful in so many ways. I was so happy to create an invitation for such an event in our baby’s life.
Stationery and Keepsake Card POST coming TOMORROW.
