Samantha and Jeff

I love brocade prints,…or do you prefer me to call them damask? I still can’t figure out which term is accurate…does anyone know?!

No matter how you describe them, I’m in love with the look, the feel, the styles of such designs. So much so, that when I chose to design Ruby’s room, I used the damask print for curtains. LOVE the look!

So, you can understand my excitement when Samantha emailed me and requested I design such a style for her wedding invitations.

James and I met Samantha and Jeff through our birthing class, over a year ago, when our babies were still in our bellies! It’s been so much fun getting to know them this past year and seeing our girls play together.

So you can imagine the honor I felt when Samantha asked me to design their wedding invites. They were hoping for an invitation with a more laid back, mellow feel…not too over the top, wedding-y. Simplistic, fun, chic. Samantha has such good taste,…I love her style, which made me so excited to create these for her!

Oh Samantha and Jeff and their wedding invitations that I am SO in love with!!

Even the response card  is cool with the simplistic, fun wording.

They were so unique, different in style from so many other wedding invitations I’ve seen: slim line card, response postcard, fun colors,…loved them! Makes me want to get married all over again, to my J of course, and use these invitations for MY wedding. Would you mind if I did that, Samantha?! That ok?!? : )

I’d call it damask–I tend to associate brocade more with shinier fabrics. Either the tone-on-tone weaves (which may actually be a jaquard), or those Chinese-style ones they always have at Joanns. Either way, lovely invitations- I like the elegant yet simple & modern feel to them.

You say brocade, I say damask and nobody gives a damask, i’m sure! I think material names are the new trend for kids. I know of a little girl named Paisley. And if she’d had a boy twin, do you think he’d be called Argyle??? just wondrin
