So, I’ve been putting off this post for a while. It isn’t because I’m not excited about this sort of post, in that case it is the EXTREME opposite! I’m SO excited about sharing this with you! My problem is that I just don’t know where to start. What to say. How do I start this post?? How can I put into words, the excitement I have over this?!
Ever since Lydia’s Pen and Paper became an idea, my hope has been to branch into letterpress printing. Letterpress is such a beautiful and timeless way of printing that has been used since the invention of the Gutenberg press in the mid-1400′s. It’s something I have only dreamt of doing, but because of circumstances, an opportunity to do letterpress just hadn’t risen. That is until just a few months ago…

You all know my so very precious friend, Jen. Well, her mom called to say that Jen’s sister, Abbey, was getting married and wanted to do invitations through Lydia’s Pen and Paper. Jen’s mom has been amazing, she is SO creative and unique and has brought me SO many great jobs, this one for Abbey being NO exception.
Their hope was to do letterpress. My first response being,… yes, yes, yes! I’d love to do it, but I hadn’t ever done letterpress so this would be new territory…as long as they were up for me learning the letterpress ropes as we went, I was up for doing the job for them.
And they agreed. Was I EVER so happy. It all came together so amazingly. A month or so before speaking to Jen’s mom, I had visited and toured letterpress printers in the San Diego area, not knowing I would soon have a letterpress job of my own to give to them. So, to say the least, it was amazing timing to jump into a letterpress job and be ready with a printer at hand, ready to go.
Things couldn’t have fallen into place more perfectly. I loved, loved, loved the style Abbey and her mom were going for and this was, by far, one of my most favorite designs I have created and something I am SO very proud of.
The hand drawn text, mixed with the letterpress made me fall in love.
I’ll be posting photos of the invitation set later this week… invitation, response card, and matching letterpress envelopes. These photos were taken right before I shipped the entire order off and I’m sooo happy to share them with you!
Thanks for coming along with me in this journey!
