A Thank You Package

November 6, 2008

n8

Last week, my mom had me send out a few thank you packages for her, much like the “Bake and Ship” gifts I’ve done before!

n1

I had a ton of fun with them!

n2

Enclosed in each package, was a set of folded, 3 1/2″ x 5″ personalized, dotted-circle stationary (which I have used on previous pieces of stationary and invitations)…

n3

and a matching set of 5″x7″ cards and 4″x6″ recipes cards.

n5

Each set was tied together with a corresponding ribbon and then packed to ship.

I loved the how the matching stationary and recipe cards turned out!

Sometimes I think I enjoy making the packaging look cute, more than even the process of designing the note cards!!

Orphan Care

September 15, 2008

My older brother, Luke and his wife, Jess recently went on a Mission’s Trip to Ukraine to help with the Tulchyn Orphanage through Bethany Social Services.

It was an amazing trip, from what I hear. I can’t imagine anything else… you can read about their trip here. There are so many, many children in this world without a home, family, parents,…much less toys or proper clothing. We live life so easily here in the United States and forget about so many others who are suffering daily.

The Ministry of Family, Youth and Support: State Report on the Condition of Children, 2005 states:

“Nearly 100,000 Ukrainian children are either living in state-run orphanages or outside of their homes without the love and care of their parents. It is estimated that the majority of these children will never be available for adoption. Rather, they will spend their lives dreaming about what it would be like to have a family, and they will be unprepared to live on their own when they turn 18.”

We are called to care for others..

Luke asked me to design a card for him, with the verse James 1:27

“Religion that God our Father accepts is this:

to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”

He plans to use these cards as thank you notes for those who supported him and his wife on their trip.

I was more than happy to do this,…here are some photos of the final product.

They’re pretty simple,…

but, still unique…

If you are interested in sponsoring a child,….you can go to the Bethany Christian Services site to check out sponsorship opportunities.

And there is always World Vision, who does an amazing job at child sponsorship.

A fun link…

September 11, 2008

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting regularly. I’ve been in a funk and can’t get out of it. I’m blaming it on pregnancy… how long can I use that excuse for?!

I am going to try harder though. I need to get back in my routine.

However, I do have a fun link to post. I had written about S and D’s wedding invitations a few months ago. They were so unique and fun to make. S and D’s wedding has come and gone, but their very talented Photographer, of En Point Photography, captured the day beautifully! In the photo summary, you can view my invitation photographed. Its located on the bottom, right corner of the “wedding details” section. You can check it out here. It was so fun to see it photographed with all the wedding decor and colors.

Ok, that’s it for now… but I promise to be back soon!

Cupcakes!

July 19, 2008

If you can’t eat the cupcakes, draw them!

I finished these invitations a few weeks ago for a really sweet client. They were for her one year old’s birthday and I loved making them!!

She requested cupcakes, circles, polka dots, and the colors pink, black, and yellow as her theme.

I came up with a few styles,…

But, she ended up deciding on this one. (Sorry for the ghetto-blurry-ness… I need to learn how to blur out in Photoshop more neatly.)

She requested a bit of sparkle, so I hand painted some fine glitter onto each cupcake.

These invites were so fun and so cute to make!

And I loved adding the cupcake on the back of the envelope flap for the finishing touch!

If you are interested in any of these invitations you can check out more at my Pen and Paper site!
