A Wreath Re-Do,…Thanks.

November 21, 2011

Since Halloween has ended and my sweet little “boo” is out, I felt I needed a little “thanks” to decorate my door before all of the Christmas decorations come out! With a quick and easy little homemade bunting, I was able to spice up my felt yarn wreath.

I cut out a few triangles, wrote/cut out the word “thanks” onto some leftover felt, glued them onto my triangles, and then strung them along some embroidery thread.

The bunting totally doesn’t match my wreath,…but I think it was a sweet quick fix before the Christmas decorations take over our home! And it’s pretty cute.

Just a little “thanks”…to enjoy (and remind me!) every time I walk through our front door.

Boo!

October 24, 2011

I saw this on one of my favorite blogs and it gave me the idea to make one for our front door.

Too cute, right?

And then I got inspired even more with my little “boo” and just had to add some little matching grey ghosts. I would have gone for the traditional white ghost, but I didn’t have white felt at home. Boo,…(no pun intended. har har…) But, I have to say I’m pretty happy with my grey goblin ghosts. I stitched white little eyes in with a large needle and the matching white yarn, then attached them with clear fishing line.

Candy Corn Garland

October 24, 2011

I found this cute idea on pinterest.

White paper plates,…I got six out of the plate, paint them with yellow and orange (leave the white tips), punch some holes at the top, thread your yarn through, and you have an adorable candy corn garland.

I laid everything out one afternoon for Ruby to do with me once she woke from her nap, but that little stinker wanted nothing to do with my paper plates and paint! Lets just say it takes this little girl some time for her to wake up. Just sometimes, not all the time, but most of the time.  Little cutie stinker.

So I sat at the counter with my little grumper and painted the candy corn all by myself while she observed. It worked out,…and she helped me string them together later that day. Somehow little E slept through this ALL! There are firsts for everything, I guess. :)

Go make one!!

A Yummy Fall Treat

October 20, 2011

Not an amazing pic (Little E demanded attention as soon as I started taking pics) but,…

a pretty amazing treat.

And fairly simple,….just wanted to share since our family enjoyed them. I made two 9×13 trays in one week. We shared them with friends and neighbors,…and of course we ate a few or more ;) . A perfect way to use up all those apples you’ve picked at the orchard this fall season.

Here’s the recipe via Betty Crocker… Caramel Apple Bars.

Enjoy!

Festive Crafts with Ruby

October 16, 2011

The Rubes has been getting her festive fall crafting on.

Lots of crafty days for this little muffin,…

A jack o’ lantern that she helped cut out with her “knife”. Or, what most people like to call, “scissors”.

Lots of paint and hands to created a friendly bat and a pumpkin in its own little patch, complete with DIY glitter salt.

And a festive fall tree with finger-stamped leaves.

But we can’t forget the pink flittery fluttery bat puppet…he’s a keeper.

I love this time of year,…any excuse for a sweet craft to create with my Rubes.
