Seriously,…

April 6, 2010

Whatever you do,…

don’t make these.

I repeat: don’t make these…

They’re terribly, awful, no good,…sinfully, horribly,….

so very bad for you.

But, oh my goodness, oh-so-good!

Recipe here. But, I’m warning you— ridiculous amounts of butter!

Homemade Peach Icecream!!

August 20, 2008

J has been bugging me to make homemade ice cream all summer long. I finally made it for him a few weeks ago. Aren’t I a good wife?!

For our wedding, we received a Lowe’s gift card, as a present, from one of our friends. Did we use the gift card for a hammer or nails or plywood, you ask? No,…..we found the most kitchen-y thing and used it on that…..which was our icecream maker! And we have never regretted it!

Different from the old, crank style icecream makers, this one is electric. All you have to do is make the custard, refrigerate it until its cold, and then pour it into the maker, flip the spin switch, and there it goes! Twenty minutes later, you have delicious icecream. Of course, the best is if you let it get a bit harder in the freezer!

J bought peaches at the store and we waited for them to ripen as long as possible and then we did the deed and made our delicious icecream.

We’ve usually used Alton Brown’s icecream recipes, after watching one of his episodes called, “Churn Baby, Churn”, but I felt like trying something new, so instead used Barefoot Contessa’s simple vanilla icecream recipe (which I can’t now, for the life of me, locate….I think Food Network took it off their site. I really do! It disappeared).

Nevertheless, it was delicious. And yummy. And, oh so good!

So, if you’re in the mood for homemade icecream with no hassle, check out the Cuisinart Icecream Maker.

It will make you happy, I promise.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

May 12, 2008

Happy Mother’s Day, Momma. Hope it was a wonderful day,… wish I could have been out on the East Coast with you today!

I had a fun time on Thursday, putting together some Mother’s Day packages for both, my mom and J’s mom.

For J’s mom, I baked her very own zucchini bread recipe, which she gave me a year or so ago. Instead of bread though, I turned them into muffins. I thought they’d be fun for her to receive since it’s a special recipe that she has used for many years.

And, for my mom, I made her favorite oatmeal raisin cookies, which I must have started making in fifth grade. These have always been her favorites and since she lives so far away, I thought it’d be such a nice surprise for her to receive them.

I packed them up in some cute gift boxes and sent them out priority mail with USPS. And, I heard today that both of them shipped well. I’ve really caught onto the whole baking and mailing thing,….it’s great!

And since I’ve gotten into the whole paper thing ;) , I had to include some “Lydia’s Pen and Paper” stationary…

I loved how they turned out. So, if you’d like to order a set of stationary, please let me know. I will be putting more samples up on my Pen and Paper site very soon!

So,…happy Mother’s Day everyone!! Give your Momma a kiss!
