Cute T’s

July 17, 2009

Look at these catchy and cute onesie’s our cousins gave Ruby!

“Martha, you got nothin on my mommas cupcakes!”

I love it! She even used one of the images I drew for an invitation. SO ADORABLE! On the back it says, “100% homemade”. LOVE it.

“I love Delaware”

Del-a-where?! Yes, that’s right. My baby will have great love for the small wonder know as, Delaware! Whoot, whoot!

And the below one will make her daddy proud,…

“My Daddy is a Rockstar!”

As I’m sure you can guess, J loved this one… gotta love Rockband influenced T’s.

And the best yet, for this blog,…

Schoolyard taunts: 2010…”-HaHa! Your mom blogs about you! -Shut Up.”

So cute and so perfect!

I’m so happy Ruby is finally fitting into these T’s! I couldn’t wait to show them off!

And, what a cute idea!!! They used printable iron on’s that you can find at your local craft store!! All you do is print your design through on an inkjet printer and then iron on!

The Youngest Rock Band Member

March 20, 2008

I do believe I’ve found the youngest Rock Band rocker the entire gaming world has thus seen. The favorite toy at our house of this cutie, little girl is our Pink XBox controller. No lie, need I say more?!

I would like to introduce you to Karis (who has just woken up from a nap, hence the crazy hair). Not to be confused with my sweet and precious Karis, who is my niece. This other sweet, little cutie is my good friends baby. She’s about to turn a year, which I cannot believe, she’s getting so big!

**Be looking for a future post on her incredibly, adorable 1 year princess birthday invitations! Oh my! So Cute!**

I must confess that I am a bit obsessed with her. Every time I see her I want to SQUEEZE HER! and PINCH HER CHEEKS! and EAT HER ALL UP!!! (I don’t sound psychotic at all, do I? Good. Thanks. Glad that’s decided.)

So, as you all know, my husband is just a wee bit obsessed with this new phenomenon they call, “Rock Band”.

Just a little,… you know, not that much, just enough to say that he “practices” his drum playing skills every night, sweats like a banshee when he plays (What is a banshee? Does anyone know why we say that?), and gets down on his knees, begging and pleading and asking me to “sing just one song!! And then after the “one song” has finished, “just a couple more!!” and then after a couple more, “just a ten song set list!”. But, I love him and so I do it,… most of the time, that is. Except when I’m tired and can’t take it any longer. Then I just go hide away in our bedroom and write blog posts.

But, as you can see, I’ve been busy playing Rock Band, therefore I haven’t been writing as many regular posts. Boo hoo…this endless cycle!

But, back to sweet Karis, daughter of my sweet friend.

J is also a teeny, weeny bit obsessed with Karis. He loves her, but not as much as I do. No, no, no… no he doesn’t! Although he may argue that,.. he loves her a lot. Enough to beg me to make a baby as cute as her, which I’m afraid may not be possible. She’s pretty stinkin’ cute, is all I’m sayin’.

So, the other night we had her mommy and daddy over for some homemade pizzas on the grill (sorry no pictures of the food this time!) and some Rock Band playing.

J thought he’d teach little, cutie Karis how to play the drums.

See Karis watching intently, learning how to read the different colored notes as they glide across the screen? I think I see her even beginning to hit a beat with those elite, Rock Band drumsticks.

“Hey Mom, I think his pitch is a little off.” -Karis

“Why is his right eyeball so incredibly black?” -Karis wonders,… because Lydia doesn’t really know how to properly use Photoshop yet,….that’s why.

“So Karis, that’s how you play Rock Band.” -James “Wow James! I think I’m ready to start playing on the real drums!”-Karis

So as I go, I will leave you with her favorite toy,…the pink, XBox controller….

Muffins, Omelettes, Hot Tamales, and Xbox

February 16, 2008

Happy, day after, Valentine’s Day! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s!

Muffins, Omelette’s, Hot Tamales, and Xbox,…that’s what my Valentine’s Day entailed. Well, part of it at least.

My Valentine’s Day started early…too early I must say!! For some reason I woke up at 5:45 am and could not go back to sleep. I feel like this is becoming some sort of routine for me. But, it did help me get things started early. A few nights ago, J and I were watching Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network. She made Chunky Banana Bran Muffins and an Omelette’s for Two. I decided to use her recipes for our Valentine’s morning breakfast.

That’s where the muffin’s and omelette’s come in.

If you’re looking for some good breakfast recipes, these were great!!

The muffins were moist and delicious,…not the typical sweet muffin I’m used to, but very good!

And the omelet was cool since you just stick it in the oven to bake instead of cooking it on the stove-top. This made for much time saved,…I was able to clean up the kitchen and get everything else ready for breakfast while it baked.

And Xbox and Hot Tamales, you ask?

We stayed pretty mellow for gifts, but I had to make a little happy bag of treats for my husband….

That included hot tamales and an assortment of other chewy, gummy candies he loves… along with an Xbox game points card. Yes,…that is what he wanted.

Here’s the recap of a conversation we had a week ago.

J: Valentine’s is coming up. What do you want?!

Lydia: Oh,,…it’s Valentine’s already? Eh,…I don’t really care. It feels like we just had Christmas. It doesn’t matter. Lets just go to dinner or something… (blah, blah, blah….)

J: Oh,..ok….

Lydia: Wait! What do you want? Hmmmmm, is this why your asking?

J: I want an Xbox game points card and a throne for my RockBand drum set.

Lydia: Oh, I see you little stinker. That is why you asked!

So,….as you can see my hubby already knew what he wanted. Since then, sadly, his Rockband drums have broken. We’re waiting on a new set to arrive in the mail any day now. I couldn’t bear to buy him a “throne” as he calls it….(normal non Rockband language for “stool”), if he didn’t have any drums to sit at and play with. So,…I’m suuuuuure he’ll get that soon!

So, in exchange, I bought him his Xbox game points instead.

And, I also carved a heart in onion skin as a decoration for his plate at lunch.

The things you do for love….

A Dessert Night

January 15, 2008

The other night, J and I had a few friends over to help celebrate our recent birthdays. I love any excuse to have others over,   simply because its an excuse to make fun and delicious desserts. The boys had a great time playing Rock Band (J’s request, of course) and while the girls enjoyed eating many sweets. img_7138.jpg Madeleine Cookies (A post about these will be coming soon) img_7150.jpgBlackberry Pie.

I asked J, if he could choose from any dessert in the world, what would he want me to make for his birthday. He chose Olallieberry Pie. Olallieberries, you ask? Yes, I didn’t even know how to pronounce the word. Just so you now know, it is pronounced, “oh-la-leh-berry”. Was my littly hubby trying to be difficult? He he,… yes, I do believe so, but isn’t he so cute?! I mean, what man even knows that there are different types of berries within the blackberry family, besides just plain, old blackberries. After much teasing and prodding directed at J, from myself, he sent me this chart to prove his point. He he he…. After looking at this again, I do believe I’m still confused. Is an olallieberry from the blackberry family or the marionberry family? Or both? Or does the marionberry originate from the blackberry and raspberry family? *sigh*… can anyone help me out with this?

Needless to say, Olallieberries aren’t really in season, must less blackberries. But, the blackberries were somewhat still available. And I wanted to make my sweet husband happy. So, I made the pie, but it was a VERY expensive pie. And not olallieberry pie, but close to it. And, it was worth it. And, it was yummy. So, there…(A post about this will probably be coming soon, also!) img_7157.jpgAnd,….da-da-da-dum!!!  Pioneer Woman’s Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever!!

And, my oh my, was it delicious…and, it made a ton!!!img_7154.jpg Look at that chocolately goodness.

Everyone had a little doggy-dessert bag to take home with them that night… because, lets just say, it was NOT safe keeping this in our house.  img_7165.jpgIf you do plan on making this, eat it an enjoy! But, I’m just warning you, it’s even MORE delicious after it has sat in the fridge all night and is nice and cold!!

Don’t tell anyone, but I had it for breakfast the next morning!
